Entertainment Tonight heeft recent nog een gesprek met Mark Hammil gevoerd, en natuurlijk kan het onderwerp: "Star Wars VII" dan ook niet ontbreken. In het gesprek liet Hammil het volgende weten.
First off, will he appear in Star Wars VII? "They're talking to us," he reveals. "George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out. … I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am."
Hamill also expressed an interest in reuniting with the rest of the Original Trilogy stars for the project. "[A]nother thing I'd want to make sure of is are we going to have the whole gang back?" he said. "Is Carrie and Harrison and Billy Dee and Tony Daniels, everybody that's around from the original [returning]? I want to make sure that everybody's on board here, rather than just one."
Uit dit gesprek blijkt dus dat de makers van de film inderdaad het idee hebben om de oude star wars sterren te laten terug keren. Maar het licht dus aan hun. Als zij de rol niet willen spelen worden ze uitgeschreven en dus niet door een ander gespeeld. Uit het gesprek blijkt ook dat Hammil wel interessen heeft maar zeker wilt zijn dat hij niet de enige is die terugkeert. Als we de eerdere reacties van Ford terug lezen dan zal hij vast en zeker niet de enige zijn. Grote kans dus dat de oude cast terug keert.
